We started off by doing the warm-up for lesson 78 and then I passed back their tests. After going over the questions from the homework, lesson 78 content and the lesson practice (and additional practice to better understand powers and exponents) we only had 5 minutes left so instead of starting a new lesson I assigned the homework.
Homework: test corrections and lesson 78 ALL the questions :)

Today we started by collecting test #14 and grading homework while students worked on lesson 76 warm-up. We then went over it all and moved onto the lesson content on multiplying fractions and units of measurements with weight and mass.
Homework: lesson 76 and 77 EVENS Today we started class by grading the homework and working on lesson 75 warm-up. We then went over homework questions and the content for lesson 75 where students worked on converting improper fractions to whole and mixed numbers. Students then had some time to work on homework and ask questions for one-on-one help before their next test.
Homework: lesson 75 evens AND Test #14 :) As always, please contact me if you have any questions. We started off passing back the tests while students worked on lesson 73 warm-up. We then went over the content for lesson 73 and 74 as well as investigation 7! Students then had 20 minutes left in class to ask questions and work on their homework.
homework: lesson 73 and 74 evens AND memorize the conversion table on page 382 I'm back! A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Vrablic who subbed for me while I was gone!
We started class off in the normal routine of checking homework and collecting test #13 while students worked on Lesson 71 Warm-Up. We then went over the warm-up and homework questions before moving onto lesson 71 content. We focused a lot on how to write a fraction as a percent and as a decimal and then we moved on to lesson 72 content in which we learned how to calculate the Area of something (Length x Width). Make sure to write the correct unit of measurement along with your answer!!! :) Homework: Lesson 71 Odds and 72 EVENS (for those who did not turn in their test #13, make sure to complete that by the next class period!) Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes! I wanted to let you know that Emilia Jo was born Thursday evening and is a strong, healthy baby! We are all doing well :)
We started with lesson 50 warm-up and then went over the content for lesson 50 (how to calculate averages). We then spent time talking about organizing and analyzing data from Investigation #5.
Homework: Lesson 50 EVENS and Test #9. Please remember tests are to be completed in one sitting and with no assistance and completed tests are to be put in a sealed envelope and signed by the parent. Encourage your student to review before the exam :) As a reminder, this was most likely my last day teaching before going on maternity leave so be on the lookout for emails from our sub, Mrs. Vrablic, which will be how class activities and homework assignments will be comunicated to you. Students worked on lesson 48 Warm-up while I checked their homework and then we went over homework questions. We then learned the lesson content and practice for 48 and 49. We finished everything a little early so students were able to work on their homework during the last 10 minutes of class and get help if they needed it.
Homework: Lesson 48 and 49 odd questions only So sorry for the delay, I guess it's hard for teachers to get back into the swing of things too after a long break :)
On Monday we went over the concepts for lesson 46 and 47 and students were assigned the EVEN questions for those two lessons as their homework. Also, we have moved classrooms in preparation for my being absent and their long-term sub (Mrs. Vrablic) taking over. Class will be held in her room (207) from now until I come back. Homework: Lesson 46 and 47 EVENS We went over the test and then we played a review game that went over all the lessons we have learned so far (lessons 1-45!).
Homework: Have a wonderful break! Today was a bit different with the fact that we had an in-class test but I wanted to make sure students received feedback on their tests as well as had time to make test corrections and such before leaving for Christmas break :)
We started off class with a homework check and then students had 15 minutes or so to get into the math mind frame by reviewing the lessons that would be on the test. After that, students took their test and when everyone was finished I passed back their graded tests and gave them some time to make their test corrections in class. Homework: Test corrections! :) We started off class by going over homework questions and then we went over lesson 44 and 45 as well was the lesson practices for both lessons. I spoke with the students about their test on Monday and reminded them that it will be over material UP TO lesson 40. This test will be taken in class unless you and your student feel that they should take their test at home. If that's the case, PLEASE contact me via email or phone so that we can make arrangements.
Homework: Lesson 44 and 45 EVENS and review for your test :) Today we went over lesson 42 again and practiced short division as well as how to identify if a number was divisible by 3, 6 and 9. We then moved on to lesson 43 which went over adding and subtracting whole numbers with mixed numbers as well as when you have a mixed number as a quotient (answer to a division problem). At the end of class I passed back their tests and we went over the clock question :)
Homework: Lesson 43 ODD questions only and TEST CORRECTIONS! Just as a reminder, next Monday students will take their Lesson 8 test IN CLASS and if we have time we will also grade the tests in class. If you feel like your student needs more than 60 minutes to complete the test and you wish for them to take their test at home, please contact me. Thanks! Class started as usual with students turning in their homework assignments for me to check and while they worked on the warm-up for lesson 41. When they finished their warm-up, we went over the questions and answers and then moved on to the content of lesson 41 which they caught onto really quickly! We then talked about lesson 42 with short-division and how to check if a number is divisible by 3, 6 or 9. Students needed quite a bit of practice with the short-division style so we did LOTS of practices so that they became more comfortable with it which meant we didn't have a lot of time to go over the rest of the chapter. If your student needs help identifying if a number is divisible by 3, 6 or 9, please have them reread that part of the lesson :)
Homework: Lesson 41 ODDS and Lesson 42 EVENS We started off class with lesson 40 warm-up while I graded their homework. We then went over the warm-up and questions from the homework assignments before moving on to the lesson 40 content of diagrams of mixed numbers and writing quotients in mixed numbers. Students seemed to really grasp this material rather quickly! We then went over the Investigation #4 in their book and students learned how to measure the opening of an angle as well as how to create an angle with a particular degree using a protractor! It took a bit of one-on-one time to ensure everyone understood how to do this but by the end of class everyone was a lot more confident in using their protractors!
Homework: Lesson 40 EVEN questions only and TEST #7 Class started off by students completing their Lesson 38 Warm-Up while I handed back their tests and looked over their homework assignment. We then went over the warm-up and moved on to talking about Mixed Numbers and Fractions on Number Lines (lesson 38) and doing the practice for that as well as learning about how to compare fractions by making diagrams (lesson 39). When doing the lesson practice for 39, I stressed the importance of dividing the shapes into EQUAL segments and that it was much easier to do that with rectangles than circles. I also wanted to make sure students put the shaded-in rectangles right next to each other (one on top, one on bottom) so they could more clearly compare the two. Students then had time to work on their homework and ask questions about their tests.
Homework: TEST corrections AND lesson 38 and 39 ODDS only. Tomorrow we will begin class by doing lesson 36 warm-up and I will check homework for completion points as well as collect their Test #6. We will then go over any questions they had from their homework before going over the warm-up questions. After that, we will move on to lesson 36 content and practice and lesson 37 content and practice before assigning the homework.
Homework: Lesson 36 and 37 EVENS We started class off by going over the homework and answering questions as well as going over the warm-up for lesson 35. We then went over the content for lesson 35 focusing a lot on the format for the equations dealing with comparisons and passing of time. Students then worked on the lesson practice and we went over that before discussing what kinds of questions they will find on their Test #6. Sadly we did not have time for the review game which would have reviewed all the terms they have learned so far such as sum, product, difference, communicative property, etc. because class was too chatty today.
Homework: Lesson 35 EVENS and TEST #6 (same rules apply for this test as the others). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me :) We will start class by passing back their tests (as long as I receive all the missing tests beforehand) and we will go over any questions they may have. Then we will go over the homework from last night to see if they had any problems they wanted to work on as a class. Afterwards we will go over Lesson 33 and 34.
Homework: Test corrections AND lesson 33 and 34 ODD questions only. |
